George Shaker is the Director of the Wireless Sensors and Devices Lab at the University of Waterloo where he is also an adjunct and research professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is also with the Schlegel Research Institute for Aging (RIA), the Centre for Intelligent Antenna and Radio Systems (CIARS), the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology (CBB), and the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR). Previously, he was an NSERC Scholar with the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also held multiple roles with RIM (BlackBerry). He is currently the Principal Scientist at Cloudhawk, and a technology advisor to multiple University of Waterloo spin-offs and startups. With more than fifteen years of industrial experience in technology, Dr. Shaker has many design contributions in commercial products available from several startups and fortune 500 companies. He is the co-author of over 100 publications and 30 patents/patent applications, and the recipient of over 40 international awards and recognitions.
